Lewisville Republicans

Tom and I joined the Lewisville Area Republican Club today at Casa G's for a Luncheon. They had a pretty big turnout ... more than they expected ... and had to add more tables to get everyone in. Tom and I were not members of this club ... but we joined during the meeting today. It was very interesting!!

I could tell that we ended up being surrounded by "regulars" at these meetings because they kept commenting on how they only recognized maybe half the people who were there ... and they were surprised by the turnout! The people we sat near said they think the turnout will decline after the local run-off elections in April. I didn't get a chance to really converse with them ... but I think they are VERY WRONG. Politics as these people know it changed this past year and changed even more this past Sunday with the Democrats ramming Healthcare through to law. They have no idea what the "Tea Party Effect" is going to be on their group. I expect it to be BIG!

Texas held their primaries in March and after that vote there were several candidates who ended up in Run-offs to be the Republican on the Ballot in November. These people, or their representatives, were at this meeting today and they each got to introduce themselves and speak briefly about their campaign. There were CLEARLY some strong emotions in the room about who the Lewisville Area Republican Club wanted to see win the Run-offs. It was very interesting to Tom and me to watch the dynamics in the room. We have lots to learn! And these people aren't afraid to call a liar a liar!! Wow.

The run-offs are in April. We'll see if the attendance at these meetings declines afterwards. I suppose they might, given that a number of the attendees today were the people running for office, although I'd like to think those people remain active in the group, win or lose.

The main reason Tom and I attended this meeting was to hear the guest speaker Gail Lowe, Chairman of the Texas State Board of Education. Gail has been neck deep in the recent Textbook issues with the Social Studies Curriculum and we wanted to hear what she had to say. Suffice to say that the Mainstream Media has it ALL WRONG. ((No big surprise there ... but still it disappoints me.)) From what she had to say, it sounds like common sense won the day pertaining to what to add, what to remove, and what to keep in the Texas Social Studies Textbooks .... but what a scary battle it was! I have asked her for a copy of her speech and she promised to email one to me. I cannot do it justice from my memory ... but I am slowly beginning to understand how deeply ingrained Socialist thought has become in our schools ... and it is frightening. I will post a copy of her speech when I get it.

Thankfully, the Texas Textbook committee seems to have 10 conservatives and 5 liberals on it right now and the conservatives won the day. Also thankfully, what appears in Texas textbooks becomes the basis for most of the other textbooks in the nation ... and that means a more conservative social studies curriculum is about to be on it's way into the classrooms of America. I had no idea how much "history" had changed in our textbooks. Of course, teachers will still teach with their own personal slants .... they shouldn't, but you know they will! But the Textbooks will still have George Washington and Thomas Jefferson as great American men (people wanted them removed) .... America will be portrayed in a positive light and the USSR in a negative light (people tried desperately to reverse those in this curriculum) .... Christmas and Easter will still be mentioned as American Holidays (removal was attempted) .... the Bill of Rights will still contain the 2nd amendment ... (it was left out in proposals) ... and the list goes on and on. You will see when I post her speech.

Gail received a standing ovation and much applause at the end of her speech .... and many requests for copies of it!

Tom and I have been selected to be delegates to the Texas State GOP Convention in June. We will be representing Senatorial District 9. We showed up at our district convention and applied ... mentioned we have been involved in the Tea Parties ... and we got selected. We are getting involved. I will try to write more about what we are doing and what is going on.

If you feel strongly about what is happening in America right now .... GET INVOLVED!! Find a local Tea Party and attend a rally .... there will probably be one near you on April 15th. Get on Facebook and make friends with other Conservatives! It helps to know there are others out there who share your concerns!! Get informed! Read ... Listen ... Converse!!! Look for me on Facebook ... add me as a friend .... and I can direct you to others who share your concerns and are working to recover America.

Let's Take America Back .... 11-2-10 ....
